Our Story
We are a Danish-Spanish couple who packed up our life in Copenhagen and moved to Barcelona in 2022 with our two kids.
The Journey
After years of talking about it, we finally made the leap. Copenhagen was home, but the winters were long, the daylight was short, and we wanted our kids to grow up with a second language and a different pace of life.
Barcelona was always the dream. My wife has family roots here, the weather is hard to beat, and the international school and public school options gave us real choices. So we sold what we could, packed what we had to, and boarded a one-way flight in the summer of 2022.
The first months were chaos. The NIE system crashed on us three times. We nearly fell for two rental scams. Our kids started school mid-year, in Catalan, knowing zero words. We made every mistake in the book so you do not have to.
Why We Built This
It started as a Notion page. A messy document where we dumped every tip, every link, every phone number we wished someone had told us about before we moved. Friends kept asking for it, then friends of friends, then strangers on Facebook groups.
So we turned it into a proper site. Real guides, organized by stage - before you move, your first month, and settling in. Everything based on what actually worked for us, not what some SEO article recycled from five years ago.
This is the guide we wish existed when we started. Every tip comes from our real experience navigating the Spanish bureaucracy, Barcelona's rental market, and the Catalan school system.
