The neighborhood was built as social housing in the 1970s, and the buildings show their age, though ongoing renovation projects are improving the housing stock. The upside is genuine: at these prices, you are living within Barcelona city limits with metro access and proximity to nature. Collserola park is a short walk uphill. The downsides are real too - walkability is a 4, local shops are few, and the feeling of being at the edge of the city is constant. Living in Canyelles is for budget-conscious relocators who can accept a 30+ minute commute to the center in exchange for the lowest rents that still come with an L4 metro stop.
