Who we are

Settle in Barcelona is a relocation guide site run by a family who moved from Copenhagen to Barcelona in 2022. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@settleinbarcelona.com. We are based in Barcelona, Spain.

What we collect

We collect the minimum amount of personal data needed to run the site and the community:

• Your email address, when you sign up for our newsletter, join the community, or request the Starter Pack.
• Basic usage data (pages visited, general location by country, device type) collected automatically through our hosting and analytics tools.
• Any information you send us directly, for example in an email or a form submission.

We do not ask for or store payment card details ourselves. If a paid product is ever introduced, payment is handled directly by our payment processor and we do not see or store your card details.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use your email address to send you the content you signed up for: the newsletter, community updates, or the Starter Pack download link. Our legal basis for this is your consent, given when you submit your email in one of our forms. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing. We use basic usage data to understand which guides are useful and to keep the site running reliably, based on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of trusted service providers (data processors) to run the site. They only process your data to provide their service to us, under their own data processing agreements:

• Vercel - website hosting and basic analytics.
• Kit (ConvertKit) - email list management and newsletter delivery.
• Resend - transactional email delivery (for example, sending you a download link).
• Stripe - payment processing, if and when a paid product is offered.

How long we keep your data

We keep your email address for as long as you stay subscribed to our list or community. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from our active mailing list. Some records may be kept for a short period afterward for legal or accounting reasons, after which they are deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct (rectify) inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete (erase) your data.
• Ask us to give you a copy of your data (portability).
• Object to how we use your data.
• Complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Espanola de Proteccion de Datos (AEPD), if you believe we have mishandled your data.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which earn us a commission if you click through and buy something. That does not involve sharing your personal data. See our affiliate disclosure for details.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work, and basic analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new tool or change how we handle data. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we will let our email subscribers know.
