Language barrier: LowCultural distance: Low
- Spanish and Catalan are both Romance languages, so your French gives you a huge head start. Many words are similar.
- Bread culture exists here too, but the baguette is replaced by pa de pages and other local varieties.
- The work-life balance may feel familiar, but Barcelona takes it further. Do not schedule meetings during lunch.
- Wine is even cheaper here. A solid bottle of local wine costs EUR 3-5 at the supermarket.
- Barcelona is closer to Toulouse than to Madrid. Many French people drive down for weekends, so you will find a big community.
