Canyelles
Canyelles sits at the top of Nou Barris, a hilltop housing estate with views of the Collserola ridge and rents that barely register on Barcelona's scale. Two-bedrooms average EUR 900, and the L4 metro at Canyelles station connects you - slowly - to the rest of the city. The neighborhood was built as social housing in the 1970s, and the buildings show their age, though ongoing renovation projects are improving the housing stock. The upside is genuine: at these prices, you are living within Barcelona city limits with metro access and proximity to nature. Collserola park is a short walk uphill. The downsides are real too - walkability is a 4, local shops are few, and the feeling of being at the edge of the city is constant. Living in Canyelles is for budget-conscious relocators who can accept a 30+ minute commute to the center in exchange for the lowest rents that still come with an L4 metro stop.
