Language barrier: LowCultural distance: Low
- Portuguese and Spanish are close. You will understand most Spanish within weeks. Catalan is trickier but shares Latin roots.
- Brazilian shops and restaurants are scattered across the city, especially in Ciutat Vella and Eixample.
- The saudade of missing Brazil is real but the Brazilian community is large and active. Carnival celebrations happen here too.
- If you have Portuguese ancestry, get Portuguese citizenship first. It gives you full EU rights and makes the move much simpler.
- Barcelona's beach culture will feel familiar, but the water is colder than Brazil. Summers are warm enough for swimming though.
