Spain's investor residency program ended on April 3, 2025. Congress approved the repeal on December 19, 2024, and no new applications are being accepted. If you already hold a Golden Visa, you keep your residency and renewal rights under the old terms. If you were planning to apply, look at the Digital Nomad Visa (for remote income), the Non-Lucrative Visa (for savings or passive income), or the Self-Employment and Work visas (for starting a business or taking a job in Spain) - all still open and listed below.

Requirements
- The Golden Visa program ended on April 3, 2025
- The Spanish Congress approved the repeal on December 19, 2024
- No new Golden Visa applications are being accepted
- Applications submitted before April 3, 2025 are still being processed under the old rules
- If you already hold a Golden Visa, you keep your residency and renewal rights
Timeline & Cost
Benefits
- Existing Golden Visa holders keep their current residency status
- Existing holders can still renew under the rules that applied when they got the visa
- Family members already included on an existing Golden Visa remain covered
- No requirement to reapply if your current permit is still valid
Limitations
- No new applications are accepted, at any investment level
- The real estate investment route (EUR 500,000+) no longer leads to Spanish residency
- If you need a residency route based on remote income, look at the Digital Nomad Visa
- If you plan to live in Spain on savings or passive income, look at the Non-Lucrative Visa
- If you want to start a business or work as self-employed, look at the Self-Employment Visa or Work Visa
